Climate Governance
Often, governance over climate is fragmented across ministries, agencies, levels of government. Weak legal frameworks, lack of capacity, limited stakeholder engagement, transparency deficits, and corruption or mismanagement can undermine climate policy implementation. In many cases, vulnerable groups have little voice in decision‐making.
Our Approach
Climate Change Hub works to strengthen institutional capacity and support the development or reform of governance frameworks that clarify roles, responsibilities, accountability, and oversight for climate action. We help set up multi‐stakeholder platforms, support legal and regulatory reform, capacity building for public officials, civil society oversight, community‐based monitoring, and ensure climate data, reporting, and decision‐making are accessible and inclusive.
Impact & Opportunities
Better governance enhances trust, ensures resources reach those most in need, improves effectiveness and efficiency of climate actions, reduces leakage and misuse, and increases social resilience. Opportunities lie in supporting decentralization where appropriate, enabling local governments and communities, advancing open data and disclosure of climate risks and performance, using participatory methods, and institutionalizing rights for affected groups and future generations.
